Famous Pilgrimage Attraction at Yamunotri
Yamunotri temple: The Garhwal Himalayas is hallowed
with some of the holiest Hindu pilgrimage spots, Yamunotri rests
prominent among them. An abode of Goddess Yamuna, Yamunotri is
a prime destination to tour in the Himalayan Region. The Yamunotri
temple was destroyed twice in the present century and rebuilt
again and again. The present shrine was constructed by Maharani
Guleria of Jaipur in the late nineteenth century. All the devotees
of Yamunotri are bound with the rituals as holy dip in the nearby
tank and rice cooking from this water. The place of worship remains
closed from November to May.
Surya Kund: Surya kund is one of the most popular
thermal springs of Yamunotri. The thermal spring of Surya Kund
have the temperature of 190f. The place is preferred as
cooking spot of pilgrims where the devotees made rice and potatoes
to offer to deity of Yamunotri temple.
Divya Shila: Divya Shila is a rock pillar placed
just before the entrance of the temple. This huge Shila is also
venerated by the pilgrims.
Hanumanchatti: The meeting together of Hanuman
Ganga and Yamuna River forms the starting point for the picturesque
Dodi Tal trek. The trekking to Yamunotri starts from Hanumanchatti,
where porters, ponies and Palanquins are available for the journey.
Sayanachatti: Sayanachatti is renowned as a
scenic spot along the banks of river Yamuna. It’s a brilliant
sight enroute the trek up to Yamunotri.
Chamba: Situated at an altitude of
1,676 mts., Chamba is the perfect summer retreat offers an extraordinary
view of Himalayan Peaks.
