Prime Pilgrimage Attractions of Varanasi
Kashi Vishwanath Temple: Erected in the heart
of the cultural capital of India, the Kashi Vishwanath temple
occupies a vital role in making Varanasi a prime pilgrimage center
of India. It is the center of faith for millions of Hindu devotes
and the Jyotirlinga of Shiva, Vishweshwara or Vishwanatha, is
protected in the temple. Now the Kashi Vishwanath Temple is a
living picture of timeless cultural ethnicity and highest spiritual
values. A single Darshan of Vishweshwara Jyotirlinga is regarded
to value more than the Darshan of other Jyotirlingas, dotted in
various parts of India. The temple opens daily at 2.30 am for
Mangala Aarti. The temple is tremendously drawing attention of
Hindu devotees and other pilgrims from India as well as abroad.
Durga temple: Durga temple or the "monkey
temple" is one of the imperative temples
of Varanasi, dedicated to Goddess Durga. It a construction of eighteenth century,
situated on a rectangular tank, called the Durga Kund. According to popular belief
Goddess Durga here is not a human created figure but appeared on her own in the
temple. The presence of large number of monkeys in the temple denotes the name-
the money temple. Thousands of Hindu devotees make their tour to Durga temple
during Navaratri festival.
Bharat Mata Temple:
Dedicated to Mother India, the Bharat Mata temple is the prime means of attraction
of Varanasi. Located in the Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapeeth campus, the temple
was built by Babu Shiv Prasad Gupt and inaugurated by Mahatma Gandhi in 1936.
Apart from worshiping the usual gods and goddesses in Bharat Mata Temple, it
houses a relief map of India, carved out of marble.
Tulsi Manas Temple:
Tulsi Manas Temple is counted among the famous
temples of Varanasi, sited near the Durga temple. The temple
is dedicated to Lord Rama where Tulsi wrote the famous Indian
epic, Ramcharitamanasa. Hindi version of the Ramayana and verses
and scenes from the Ramcharitammanasa has engraved on the walls
of the Tulsi Manas temple.
Nepali Temple: Built in the Nepali style of
Architecture and décor the Nepali Mandir in Varanasi is
successful in attracting worldwide tourist. King of Nepal made
this temple on Lalita Ghat is better known as the Kathwala Temple
for its incredible woodwork. So, being a temple city-Varanasi
offers some significant holy shrines to capture worldwide tourist
