Bragatheeswarar Temple: Bragatheeswarar Temple is adorned with imposing towers, Mandapams and pillars. This well visited shrine has been sung by the Saivite Saint Poets and built by Rajaraja Cholan, the Great Chola king, the example of Indian Sculptural Architectural Greatness. Temple is bordered by moat on two sides and impressive Anaicut River on the other side. It is 216 feet tall structure having one stupa at the top. Millions of pilgrims used to make their visit to unfold the history of the big temple in all through out the year.

Puliyur Vyagrapureeswarar Temple: Puliyur Vyagrapureeswarar Temple is a popular shrine of Thanjavur situated just 80 km from the cities main road.  Kamadhenu, the devalogha cow prayed to Lord Shiva to cure from numerous disease. Nataraja is worshiped prior to all other gods is the unique feature of the temple.

Sikkal Singaravelavar Temple: This temple is unique in the entire Tamil Nadu for worshiping Siva and Vishnu together at the same premise. The 'Vel vankuthal' festival in the Tamil month of Iyappasi is exceptionally eminent and ushers a huge gathering of travelers for a wise travel.

 
    
Rajaraja Museum, Thanjavur Sirkazhi: The significance of the temple lays here as Goddess Parvathi offered Gnana milk to Thirugnana Sambandar, when he was a child. The famous Thirumulaippal Utsav is held here every year during Thiruvadirai Nakshatra of Chiithirai month.

Swamimalai: Swamimalai is one of the six abodes of Lord Murugan, sited just 32 kms far. There exist 60 steps to the temple signifies the 60 years of the Tamil calendar. Lord Swaminathan is decorated with Diamond Vel in every Thursday.

Thirubuvanam: Thirubuvanam is a 13th century Chola temple, an abode of Lord Shiva, and situated just 45 kms from the main road of Thanjavur.

Thiruvaiyaru: Thiruvaiyaru is situated 13 kms from Thanjavur where the famous saint Thyagaraja lived and got Samadhi. The temple here is dedicated to Lord Shiva, better known as Panchanatheswara.

Vaitheeswaran Kovil: It is also a popular Shiva temple, huge crowd of devotees come here to make themselves free from several diseases of mind.  This shrine is also referred to as an Angarakasthalam- Mars, Kartikeya, and Jatayu. Adorned with impressive towers, Mandapams and posts, this fine visited shrine has been sung by the Saivite Saint Poets.

Thiruvarur: The temple is referred to as a Prithvi (Earth) Sthalam and the birthplace of saint Thyagaraja. The Thyagarajaswami Temple has the largest temple chariot in Tamil Nadu, situated just 55 kms away from Thanjavur.
