Somnath TempleGujarat “the jewel of west” is a prominent pilgrimage spot having a huge accumulation of temples and holy places. Somnath is located at Somnath Patan, near Veraval in Gujarat, is a famous pilgrimage center held in great reverence throughout India. It is situated on the south coast of Saurashtra and considered to be the first of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Shiva The famous Somnath temple is a paradigm of architectural splendor of Gujarat. According to Hindu Mythology Somnath is an as old as the creation.

Somnath, a revered pilgrimage center, dedicated to Lord Shiva the construction dates back to 4 century A.D is situated 79 Kms. from Junagadh and 25 Kms. from Chorwad. Built in the Chalukya architectural style; the temple is an example of Gujarat's artistic excellence. Shikhara, the Garbhagriha, the sabha mandap and nritya mandap are the different parts of the temple. The Somnath temple is as old as human civilization. Its reference can also be found in Rig Veda the holy Hindu scripture. Right from its inception the temple is destroyed several times. An inscription on the Arrow Pillar on the sea defense wall means that there is no section of land between the points where the temple stands. It reflects the truth of power of creation, which is always greater than the power of Destruction

The Jain temples is famous for the intricate carvings, are the main magnetism of the city. : The Bhalka Tirth- a spot rich with mythological significance, as Lord Krishna was mistaken for a deer and injured by an arrow while sleeping in a deerskin. It is a place situated at a confluence of three rivers.

Suraj Mandir: Suraj Mandir or the sun temple is situated in a close proximity of Somnath was knocked down by Mahmud of Ghazni.

Ahilyabai Temple: Ahilyabai Temple was structured as a substitute of Somnath temple. Sands, great sea view, camel, pony rides, coconut stalls, and snack shops are for adding refreshment to the divine journey to Somnath, placed just behind the temple.

Triveni Tirth: The Triveni Tirth is an important pilgrimage site, renowned for submerging ashes and prays for dear departed.
