Shirdi is the hometown
and resting place of Shri Sai Baba- the incarnation
of Lord Shiva.Shirdi is a small village of Ahmednagar district in
Maharastra but an important pilgrimage sight for all religions,
beliefs and faiths. When Sai Baba was sixteen years old, he came
to Shirdi and made his residence to Khandoba temple. Now Sai Baba
temple is not only concentrated to Shirdi, devotees established
the temples of Sai Baba in countries like Canada and Cuba. Shirdi
is very close to the holy town Nasik and wealthy of several spots
as Samadhi Mandir, Guru Sthan, Khandoba Temple, Dwarkamai. Shirdi
is a mystical town fragrant with the devotional intensity that ushers
pilgrims from all over the world.
Major pilgrimage sights of Shird
Samadhi Mandir: As the name suggests, it is
a Mandir having Sai Baba’s Samadhi festooned in white marble stone.
There remain two silver decorative pillars in front of the Samadhi.
The Samadhi Mandir is actually owned by a millionaire and a famous Sai
devotee of Nagpur. The Mandir is built with stones where Baba himself
became the Murlidhar.
Dwarkamai: Sai Baba stayed in Dwarkamai till the end of his life.
Dwarkamai located on the right of the entrance of Samadhi Mandir where
he was engaged with solving of problems of general people by curing
their sickness and worries. The oil painting of Shri Sai Baba sitting
in a carved wooden shrine is the prime attraction of the place. It
was originally a Mosque, baba converted it into a temple and proved
that God is one” |
Gurusthan: The
Gurusthan was renovated on 30th September 1941 followed by the construction
of the present temple. There also exists a small shrine and marked
by a Neem Tree. There is a Large Shivling followed by a marble statue
of Sai Baba.
Lendi Baug: Lendi Bagh is a Bagh placed just a few distances
from Gurusthan. This Bagh is made and maintained
by Baba himself. Sai Baba used to come every now
and then to the place. At the entrance of the Lendi
Baug the Samadhis’ of
ardent devotees of Sai baba named Tatya Kote Patil,
Bhau Maharaj Kumbhar, Nanavalli and Abdul Baba are
there.
Khandoba Mandir: Khandoba Mandir is
frequently visited by pilgrims at their visit to
Shirdi. The
temple is located on the main road and witnessed
a large group of devotees from different part of
the state. Baba was welcomed by Poojari Mhalsapati,
when he steeped in front of the temple. Icons of Khandoba, Banai
and Mhalsai made the temple an important pilgrimage spot to tour.
