Omkareshwar TempleOmkareshwar is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas and shrine of Shiva, Situated at a distance of 12 miles from Mortakka in Madhya Pradesh. Located at the bank of river Narmada, Omkareshwar is the revered island, shaped akin to the holiest of all Hindu symbols, 'Om'. It is 2 kms long and 1 km wide Omkareshwar halts at the meeting point of the Narmada and the Kaveri rivers. Shri Omkareshwar Mahadeo/ Mandhata Temple: Shri Omkar Mandhata is one mile long, constructed by the soft stones has lent its pliable surface to a rare degree of detailed work. It has an intricately carved stone roof of the temple. The temple is decorated by verandahs with columns, carved in circles, polygons and squares. This temple is one of the most inspiring and sacred places of pilgrimage in Madhya Pradesh. The Omkareshwar temple is created in the North Indian style of architecture, with high spires. Holy Shrine, OmkareshwarThe Siddnath Temple: The Siddnath Temple is the fine example of early medieval Brahminic architecture, a major sight for pilgrims. Elaborate carved figures ornamented the upper part and the roof of the temple is also decorated by verandahs with columns fixed in circles, polygons and squares. A fresco of elephants over 1.5m tall carved on a stone phase at its outer perimeter is the eye- catchy features of the place.
