Kailash Mansarovar is the ultimate pilgrimage spot for worldwide travelers across the centuries. Nearly all the major passes of Uttaranchal Himalayas directs to Kailash – Mansarovar. Mount Kailash formed about 30 million years ago when Himalayas were in their early stage of configuration. One of the most admired places in Himalayas is Mansarovar, a giant lake of colors made by Brahma combining these two words “Man” and “Sarovar”. A holy bath in this Sarovar (lake) brings spiritual salvation to the pilgrimage arriving to Mount Kailash. Kailash-Mansarovar, sited at a distance of 865 km from Delhi is also known as 'Manaskhand', several myths are associated with the extraordinary mountain and lake. Pilgrims come to explore Mt Kailash the abode of Lord Shiva and his consort Parvati from all over the world.
Pilgrims have constantly traveled this massive distance to achieve
enlightenment and cleanse of sin to Mount Kailash, braving gigantic
distances, harsh weather, robber’s attacks. Mount Kailash is
the earthly manifestation of Mt. Meru, described as a fantastic 'world
pillar' 84,000 miles high, its roots in the lowest hell and its summit
kissing the heavens. Gauri Kund (5608 m) is the must-visited place
on the way to Mount Kailash. Exceptional isolation and the peculiar
curves of black granite had made an appearance of a Shiva lingam in
Kailash. Kailash is the most venerated place on earth by a number
of faiths and religious. The number of people visiting Kailash may
be very less now it is hoped to visit more and more Indian pilgrims
in the Western Tibet, the region of sacred mountains and lakes. Mt,
Kailash is the domain of Lord Shiva for Hindus whereas Buddhist worships
the peak as the dwelling of Samvara (Demchok)- the wrathful demonstration
of Buddha.
